Whisper's Sanctuary
Tucked away in a picturesque valley near the Canelo Hills is a place of healing for unwanted and retired animals. Whisper's Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit permanent home for animals in need. Current residents include horses, burros, goats, dogs and a flock of geese. We are delighted to be a retirement home for service animals, including horses from Ft. Huachuca's 4th (Memorial) B Troop, therapeutic horses, and a retired Border Patrol dog.
The Sanctuary offers children a special program called Forever HERO (Humane Education for Retirement Options), a program that aims to teach children that animals are not disposable objects but rather amazing beings who have many special abilities even if they can no longer be ridden. Children and guests visiting the Sanctuary can meet the animals, hear their stories, and learn about good stewardship.
100% of all donations is used for the direct maintenance of Sanctuary animals - feed and health care expenses. Donations are tax deductible. We operate Sparky's Cantina, a gourmet vegetarian, vegan and allergy-free food mobile to "fund raise" for the Sanctuary. Sparky also offers special-event catering. Sparky's food can be found at the Sierra Vista Co-Op market, where we sell our ready-to-eat prepared meals, conventional and allergy-free/vegan baked goods, specialty nuts, and horse/dog treats.
